Šerka families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Brac. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and on the Island of Brac. In Sumartin on the Island of Brac every tenth inhabitant had the family name Šerka.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Šerka live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are only located in in 7 Croatian cities and 9 other places, mostly in Sumartin on the Island of Brac (30), Split (10), Zagreb (<10), Supetar on the Island of Brac (<10), and in Stobrec (<10).
