In Croatia, Šepat families are generally Croats (from Klanjec area ), very rarely Slovenes. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Slovenia.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Šepat live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 7 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Zagreb (15), Sesvete (<5), Zadar (<5), Samobor (<5), and in Ivanic-Grad (<5).
