Šegina families are Croats and they are mostly from Vrbovsko area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Karlovac and Ozalj. In Milani in Vrbovsko area every second inhabitant had the family name Šegina.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Šegina live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 7 cities and 16 other places, mostly in Karlovac (25), Zagreb (20), Ozalj (<10), Lipa in Ogulin area (<10), and in Pavlovec Zabocki (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
