In Croatia, Šega families are generally Croats (from Orahovica area ), very rarely Slovenes (from Slovenia ), and barely Czechs (from Pakrac ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Orahovica area.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Šega live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 13 cities and threee other places, mostly in Zagreb (10), Pozega (10), Cazma (<10), Badljevina (<10), and in Cakovec (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
