Šaronja families are Croats and they are mostly from Lepoglava area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Lepoglava area. In Pustodol Orehovički in Lepoglava area every eighth inhabitant had the family name Šaronja.

About 240 people with faimily name Šaronja live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 230 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 25 other places, mostly in Zagreb (90), Pustodol Orehovicki in Lepoglava area (40), Veliki Bukovec in Zlatar area (20), Bedekovcina in Lepoglava area (<10), and in Nustar in Vinkovci area (<10).

Family name Šaronja (including: Saronja , Saronia and Sharonya ) is present in 10 countries on three continents.
