In Croatia, Šarf families are Croats (from Cazma area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Cazma area. In Novo Selo Garešničko in Cazma area every thirtieth inhabitant had the family name Šarf.
Prevalence
About 10 people with faimily name Šarf live in Croatia today, in five households only. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in only four naselja i to in Kutina (<5), Sisak (<5), Poljana (<5), and in Sirinec in Ivanic-Grad area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1926 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
