Šare families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Zadar area , barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and in Zadar area.
Prevalence
About 510 people with faimily name Šare live in Croatia today, in 190 households. There were 380 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 24 other places, mostly in Galovac in Zadar area (160), Zadar (135), Zagreb (55), Sibenik (40), and in Zemunik Donji in Zadar area (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
