Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Šantl live in Croatia today, in 18 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in two Croatian counties, threee cities and 9 other places, mostly in Cakovec (15), Vratisinec in Mursko Sredisce area (<5), Lopatinec in Cakovec area (<5), and in Sveti Martin na Muri (<5) and Miklavec (<5) in Mursko Sredisce area.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
