Šabanović families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Bosnian Krajina , whereas often Croats (from Pula ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Prijedor area) and in Zagreb. In Rizvanovići in Bosnian Krajina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Šabanović.
Prevalence
About 270 people with faimily name Šabanović live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 41 other places, mostly in Zagreb (75), Umag (35), Rijeka (20), Rajevo Selo in Zupanja area (15), and in Dubrovnik (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
