Đipalo families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Sinj , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sinj and in Djurdjevac area. In Lučane in Sinj every tenth inhabitant had the family name Đipalo.
Prevalence
About 350 people with faimily name Đipalo live in Croatia today, in 130 households. There were 310 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Lucane (110), Split (40), Zagreb (20), Sinj (20), and in Kalinovac in Djurdjevac area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
