Čubrilo families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Obrovac area , but often Croats (from Split ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Benkovac. In Donje Ceranje in Benkovac every sixth inhabitant had the family name Čubrilo.
Prevalence
About 240 people with faimily name Čubrilo live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 390 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 27 cities and 26 other places, mostly in Zagreb (60), Split (20), Zadar (20), Rijeka (10), and in Pula (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1937 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
