Čolović families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Drnis , also Croats (also from Drnis ), very rarely Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Drnis and Knin. In Tepljuh in Drnis every third inhabitant had the family name Čolović.
Prevalence
About 220 people with faimily name Čolović live in Croatia today, in 130 households. There were 390 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Siveric (40), Zagreb (35), Split (20), Knin (20), and in Tepljuh (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
