In Croatia, Čevra families are Croats (from Solin area ), barely Slovenes (from Zagreb ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area).
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Čevra live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 6 cities and threee other places, mostly in Dugopolje in Solin area (40), Zagreb (15), Velika Gorica (10), Varazdin (<10), and in Split (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
