Čermak families are often Croats and they are mostly from Bjelovar , less frequently Slovaks (from Backa, Vojvodina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Bjelovar. In Kip in Daruvar area every fourtieth inhabitant had the family name Čermak.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Čermak live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and threee other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Bjelovar (20), Ilok (15), Petrinja (<10), and in Novo Cice (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
