Čeko families are usually Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , rarely Serbs from Knin. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area). In Dolac in Middle Bosnia every seventh inhabitant had the family name Čeko.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Čeko live in Croatia today, in 160 households. There were 190 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 32 cities and 51 other places, mostly in Zagreb (75), Split (45), Sibenik (40), Knin (25), and in Kastel Kambelovac (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
