In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area) and in Middle Bosnia (Novi Travnik area). In Donje Krčevine in Middle Bosnia every tenth inhabitant had the family name Čakar.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Čakar live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 9 other places, mostly in Rijeka (<10), Zagreb (<10), Split (<5), Pozega (<5), and in Kondric in Djakovo area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1943 in source Directorium ARCHI-DIOECESI ZAGREBIENSI.
