Ćurčić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from western Bosnia , whereas often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area) and in Zagreb. In Gornji Brišnik in Western Bosnia every eighth inhabitant had the family name Ćurčić.
Prevalence
About 450 people with faimily name Ćurčić live in Croatia today, in 230 households. There were 330 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 40 cities and 50 other places, mostly in Zagreb (90), Split (50), Sesvete (20), Dalj in Vinkovci area (20), and in Poljanci in Slavonski Brod area (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
