Ćesić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Herzegovina , less frequently Bosniaks (from Dubrovnik ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Posusje area) and in Herzegovina (Mostar area). In Batin in Herzegovina every ninth inhabitant had the family name Ćesić.

About 90 people with faimily name Ćesić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 7 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Split (25), Dubrovnik (15), Sesvete (15), and in Velika Mlaka (<10).
