Ćavar families are Croats and they are mostly from Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Siroki Brijeg area) and in Herzegovina (Mostar area). In places Dragnjić and Kopić in Western Bosnia every second inhabitant had the family name Ćavar.
Prevalence
About 760 people with faimily name Ćavar live in Croatia today, in 320 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 41 cities and 64 other places, mostly in Zagreb (280), Split (50), Sesvete (45), Osijek (35), and in Vinkovci (35).
