Zrno families are Croats and they are mostly from western Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanska Gradiska area). In places Galečić and Bogdašić in Western Bosnia every fourth inhabitant had the family name Zrno.
Prevalence
About 510 people with faimily name Zrno live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 35 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Zagreb (130), Split (45), Osijek (40), Velika Gorica (30), and in Velika Kopanica in Djakovo area (30).

Family name Zrno is present in 17 countries worldwide. The family name "Zrno " is used by some 70 people in Czech Republic , small number in Germany , and small number of people in Australia , small number of people in the United States.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
