Vrga families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Glina area , but often Croats (from Karlovac ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Glina and in Glina area.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Vrga live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Petrinja (20), Zagreb (20), Podgorje in Glina area (20), Mali Gradac (10), and in Karlovac (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
