Vrdoljak families are Croats and they are mostly from western Bosnia. According to some sources they are from Otok near Sinj and from Nina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Split. In Srđevići in East Herzegovina every sixth inhabitant had the family name Vrdoljak.
Prevalence
About 2500 people with faimily name Vrdoljak live in Croatia today, in 1000 households. There were 800 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 63 cities and 143 other places, mostly in Split (545), Zagreb (525), Solin (160), Osijek (85), and in Neoric in Sinj area (75).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
