Vrban families are Croats and they are mostly from Pag area. According to some sources they are from Primorja, Like and west Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Senj. In Cesarica in Pag area every third inhabitant had the family name Vrban.
Prevalence
About 1300 people with faimily name Vrban live in Croatia today, in 560 households. There were 1300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 52 cities and 145 other places, mostly in Zagreb (305), Rijeka (105), Koprivnica (50), Karlobag in Pag area (45), and in Virovitica (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
