Vranešić families are Croats and they are mostly from Ogulin area. According to some sources they are from Dragosevci (Zumberak). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Ogulin area.
Prevalence
About 220 people with faimily name Vranešić live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 260 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 32 other places, mostly in Zagreb (60), Strezojevo in Glina area (30), Karlovac (20), Polje Ozaljsko (10), and in Hotnja in Glina area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1683 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
