Volić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area) and in Zagreb. In places Krpeljići and Maline in Middle Bosnia every fifth inhabitant had the family name Volić.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Volić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 22 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Split (10), Radonja in Duga Resa area (<10), Ilok (<10), and in Bobota in Vukovar area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
