Vojvodić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Vrbovca area. According to some sources they are from Dubrovnik, often Serbs, and very rarely Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Benkovac. In places Parčić and Neteka in Knin area every third inhabitant had the family name Vojvodić.
Prevalence
About 940 people with faimily name Vojvodić live in Croatia today, in 470 households. There were 1400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 48 cities and 105 other places, mostly in Zagreb (155), Rijeka (50), Zadar (45), Kukljica on the Island of Ugljan (35), and in Osijek (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
