Virovac families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Slatina area , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and Virovitica.
Prevalence
About 130 people with faimily name Virovac live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 23 other places, mostly in Osijek (15), Virovitica (<10), Slatina (<10), Noskovci in Slatina area (<10), and in Mala Pisanica in Grubisno Polje area (<10).

Family name Virovac is present in 6 countries on three continents. The family name "Virovac " is used by few people in Australia and few people in the United States. "Virovatz " is used by small number of people in the United States.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
