In Croatia, Vimer families are generally Croats (from the Island of Ugljan ), very rarely Hungarians (from Srijem, Vojvodina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zadar.

About 20 people with faimily name Vimer live in Croatia today, in 7 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties and another small place , mostly in Vinkovci (<10), Split (<5), Zadar (<5), Ilok (<5), and in Ugljan on the Island of Ugljan (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
