Vilus families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Krajina , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Kotor Varos area) and in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area). In Zagrađe in Middle Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Vilus.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Vilus live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 12 other places, mostly in Petrinja (10), Trnovac in Pozega area (10), Bjelovar (10), Bolc in Cazma area (10), and in Strazeman in Pozega area (10).
