Vidić families are often Croats and they are mostly from Sinj and according to some sources from Blizanaca (Bosnia), less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sinj and in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanska Gradiska area). In Bešinci in Pozega area every third inhabitant had the family name Vidić.
Prevalence
About 1400 people with faimily name Vidić live in Croatia today, in 570 households. There were 900 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 66 cities and 147 other places, mostly in Zagreb (220), Split (45), Lucane (45), Zadar (40), and in Sinj (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
