Verić families are often Croats and they are mostly from Zupanja area , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zupanja area and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area). In Čarići in Middle Bosnia every second inhabitant had the family name Verić.
Prevalence
About 250 people with faimily name Verić live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 280 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 28 cities and 33 other places, mostly in Babina Greda in Zupanja area (80), Zagreb (35), Ogulin (10), Osijek (10), and in Zdralovi (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
