In Croatia, Verbić families are generally Croats (from Koprivnica ), very rarely Bosniaks (from Rijeka area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Koprivnica and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Verbić live in Croatia today, in four households only. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in four Croatian counties, two cities and 5 other places, mostly in Koprivnica (<10), Zagreb (<10), in Omisalj (<5) and Njivice (<5) on the Island of Krk, and in Marinici in Rijeka area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
