In Croatia, Vaško families are mainly Croats (from Slavonski Brod ), less frequently Czechs (from Sisak ), and very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sisak and in Bosanian Posavina (Derventa area).
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Vaško live in Croatia today, in 18 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 6 cities and four other places, mostly in Slavonski Brod (20), Jazvenik (<10), Stupno (<10), Petrinja (<5), and in Rijeka (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
