Vaš families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Vukovar , also Hungarians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and Vukovar.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Vaš live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 12 other places, mostly in Slavonski Brod (10), Zagreb (<10), Novigrad (<10), Predavac in Bjelovar area (<10), and in Kopacevo in Osijek area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
