Vasiljević families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Slatina area , whereas often Croats (also from Slatina area ), very rarely Roms (from Sisak ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Sisak. In Pedalj in Hrvatska Kostajnica area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Vasiljević.
Prevalence
About 640 people with faimily name Vasiljević live in Croatia today, in 310 households. There were 530 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 47 cities and 58 other places, mostly in Sisak (105), Zagreb (95), Rijeka (45), Pula (25), and in Slavonski Brod (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
