Valentić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Slunj area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Slunj area. In Kruškovača in Slunj area every second inhabitant had the family name Valentić.
Prevalence
About 1800 people with faimily name Valentić live in Croatia today, in 740 households. There were 1400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 72 cities and 192 other places, mostly in Zagreb (295), Stari Mikanovci in Djakovo area (90), Karlovac (85), Rijeka (85), and in Kruskovaca in Slunj area (50).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1673 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
