In Croatia, Ukas families are Croats (from the Island of Murter ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Sibenik.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Ukas live in Croatia today, in 16 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are only located in threee Croatian cities and four other places, mostly in Jezera on the Island of Murter (25), Split (<10), Zagreb (<5), Zadar (<5), and in Rogoznica in Trogir area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1938 in source Phone Book - Zagreb 1938.
