Tuta families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Benkovac area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and in Benkovac area. In Grabašnica in Bosanian Posavina every second inhabitant had the family name Tuta.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Tuta live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 8 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Split (20), Polaca in Benkovac area (20), Pakostane in Biograd na moru area (20), and in Zadar (15).
