Turić families are Croats and they are mostly from Vrgorac area (Crveni Grm). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vrgorac and in Middle Bosnia (Novi Travnik area). In Stilja in Vrgorac every ninth inhabitant had the family name Turić.
Prevalence
About 640 people with faimily name Turić live in Croatia today, in 270 households. There were 340 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 90 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 40 cities and 62 other places, mostly in Split (85), Zagreb (85), Makarska (70), Donji Prolozac in Imotski area (35), and in Vinkovci (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1742 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
