Turina families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Kraljevica , rarely Italians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and Senj. In Biljevine in Senj every fourth inhabitant had the family name Turina.
Prevalence
About 550 people with faimily name Turina live in Croatia today, in 250 households. There were 590 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 49 other places, mostly in Rijeka (90), Zagreb (55), Smrika (35), Voloder in Kutina area (30), and in Makarska (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
