Surname Trlin in modern Croatia

Trlin families are Croats and they are mostly from north Herzegovina. According to some sources they are from Vrgorac area (zaselak Trlini). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in North Herzegovina (Konjic area) and in Vrgorac. In Ravča in Vrgorac every fifth inhabitant had the family name Trlin.

Prevalence

About 150 people with faimily name Trlin live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 22 other places, mostly in Ravca (35), Zagreb (30), Vrgorac (15), Split (10), and in Rijeka (<10).

Family name Trlin (including: Terlien , Terlin , Thorlin , Trhlin , Trhlín , Thurlin and Therlin ) is present in 31 countries worldwide. "Trhlin " is used by small number of people in the United States and small number in Czech Republic. "Thorlin " is used by small number of people in the United States , small number in Sweden , and small number of people in Denmark.
