Topol families are Croats and they are mostly from Zapresic area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Zapresic area. In Harmica in Zapresic area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Topol.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Topol live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), in Senkovec (20), Prigorje Brdovecko (15) and Marija Gorica (10) in Zapresic area, and in Karlovac (<10).
Outside Croatia
At least four families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to: Germany (2), the United States (1), and to France (1). Family name Topol (including: Topoll , Toppol ) is present in 34 countries worldwide. "Topoll " is used by some 200 people in Germany and small number in the United States.
