Tešić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Bosanske krajine , whereas often Croats (Bosanska Posavina). According to some sources they are from Dubrovnik area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area) and in Bosnian Krajina (Teslic area). In Ugodnovići in Bosnian Krajina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Tešić.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Tešić live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 51 other places, mostly in Zagreb (70), Rijeka (40), Otok in Vinkovci area (30), Ogulin (15), and in Vinkovci (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
