Tarbuk families are often Serbs and they are mostly from Hrvatska Kostajnica area , less frequently Croats. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pakrac and in Hrvatska Kostajnica area. In Popovci in Pakrac every third inhabitant had the family name Tarbuk.

About 200 people with faimily name Tarbuk live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 500 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly.
