Tadić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. According to some sources they are from Herzegovina, rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Tuzla Region, Bosnia (Tuzla area) and in Middle Bosnia (Zavidovici area). In places Gornja Lovnica , Živinice and Osova in Middle Bosnia every seventh inhabitant had the family name Tadić.
Prevalence
About 3900 people with faimily name Tadić live in Croatia today, in 1600 households. There were 1700 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 101 cities and 375 other places, mostly in Zagreb (740), Split (220), Grab in Sinj area (110), Rijeka (105), and in Zadar (75).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1689 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
