Svilokos families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Petrinja , whereas often Croats (from Dubrovnik ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Dubrovnik and Sisak. In Papići in Hrvatska Kostajnica area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Svilokos.
Prevalence
About 130 people with faimily name Svilokos live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Dubrovnik (15), Kolocep (15), Sisak (15), Zagreb (10), and in Slakovci in Vinkovci area (10).
Outside Croatia
At least two families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to Germany (1) and the United States (1). Family name Svilokos is present in five countries on three continents. The family name "Svilokos " is used by small number of people in the United States and small number in Italy.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
