In Croatia, Sušnik families are almost entirely Croats (from Opatija area ), very rarely Slovenes (also from Opatija area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Rijeka.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Sušnik live in Croatia today, in 15 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are only located in four Croatian cities and 5 other places, mostly in Klana in Opatija area (15), Zagreb (10), Sisak (<5), Rijeka (<5), and in Krapinske Toplice in Krapina area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
