Sučić families are Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina. According to some sources they are from Baske Voda or Trilj area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area). In Strizirep in Sinj area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Sučić.
Prevalence
About 2100 people with faimily name Sučić live in Croatia today, in 830 households. There were 1400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 74 cities and 168 other places, mostly in Zagreb (340), Split (230), Djakovo (80), Vinkovci (55), and in Osijek (50).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1571 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
