In Croatia, Stupin families are generally Croats (from Vodice ), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vodice and Sibenik. In Prvić Luka in Vodice every tenth inhabitant had the family name Stupin.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Stupin live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Prvic Luka (10), Osijek (<10), Sibenik (<10), Zadar (<10), and in Dubrovnik (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
