Stupar families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Samobor , often Serbs, very rarely Italians (from Pula ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Samobor and Zagreb. In Slani Dol in Samobor every fourth inhabitant had the family name Stupar.
Prevalence
About 520 people with faimily name Stupar live in Croatia today, in 250 households. There were 330 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 47 cities and 66 other places, mostly in Zagreb (80), Slani Dol (40), Pula (30), Rijeka (25), and in Osijek (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
